Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a therapeutic approach developed by Dr. David Grand that focuses on identifying, processing, and releasing trauma and emotional pain stored in the body. This technique utilizes the concept that where a person looks affects how they feel. By guiding clients to specific eye positions, therapists help access deeper brain regions associated with trauma, enabling more effective processing and healing. Brainspotting can address a range of issues, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and performance anxiety, promoting overall emotional well-being.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness therapy is a therapeutic approach that incorporates mindfulness practices, which involve paying attention to the present moment non-judgmentally. This therapy helps individuals become more aware of their thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations, fostering a sense of acceptance and reducing stress. Techniques used in mindfulness therapy include meditation, breathing exercises, and mindful movement. It is effective in treating various mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, and chronic pain. By enhancing self-awareness and emotional regulation, mindfulness therapy promotes overall mental and emotional well-being.

Parts Work

Parts Work (Internal Family Systems (IFS)), developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz, is a therapeutic approach that views the mind as a system of different "parts" with distinct roles.

Key concepts include:

  • Parts: Aspects of the psyche, such as Exiles (wounded parts), Managers (protective parts), and Firefighters (crisis responders).

  • Self: The core essence of a person, embodying compassion and wisdom.

  • Healing: Harmonizing parts and healing wounds to foster internal balance.

IFS helps address issues like trauma, anxiety, and depression by promoting self-leadership and internal harmony.
